Description: This is not your little sibling’s Kayaking adventure. Base Camp’s small fleet of sea kayaks will enable you, your counselors, and your other new age 13-and-up friends to go wherever there’s moving water. That’s right, each of us will be challenged to paddle all around practice ponds, righteous rivers, and, if we feel up to it, the open ocean! In 2023, some of our bravest Kayakers all voted to camp overnight on a nearby Boston Harbor Island, as our capstone achievement! This year, it’s still up to the group: no matter what, an overnight-camping option will present itself, either at or away-from our home base at NEBC’s camping facilities. Tenting, cooking, and other camping activities galore!
Most importantly, in order to attend Kayaking High Adventure Camp, you must be 13 or older before July 1st, 2024, AND you must prepare to pass the required BSA Swimmer Test before entering our solo kayak boats. If you’ve finished the full Swimming Merit Badge prior to the start of camp, or have other similar swimming qualifications to the BSA’s 100-yd Swimmer Test, please reach out via email, and the staff leadership can help answer questions on parallel test validity.
- This day camp session runs from July 14th to July 18th,
- Drop-off is from 8:30 - 9 AM and pickup begins when camp ends, 3:45 - 4:15 PM,
- Extended Day (7:45am - 8:30am, 4:30pm - 6pm) can be added onto your camp registration for an additional $100 per week.
