Winter Camp: Cozy Edition
Winter is here, and as much as we love rugged outdoorsmanship and the skills it provides, there’s something to be said about indoorsmanship too! Not only will we learn how to stay safe and comfortable outdoors despite the weather, but also many traditional indoor activities that people have passed down for centuries: storytelling, music, games, crafts, and more! Participants will also be helping the younger program with their Winter Festival: either by helping create the props and costumes, participating themselves, or helping run and plan some of their booths and activities!
This program includes an overnight here at New England Base Camp, where attendees are encouraged to build their own shelter--from wooden lean-to to a snow cave--and sleep overnight in it. At the end of the week, parents are welcome to come in and attend the Festival, as well as see what the campers have been up to, culminating in a traditional campfire full of skits, songs, cheers, and stunts!
For participants in Scouts BSA, the activities will be working towards Wilderness Survival, Music, Art, and Theater Merit Badges, alongside a wide variety of Scout through First Class requirements.
